"It Does Make a Difference What You Believe"

NO OTHER TRANSLATION IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE EQUALS OR IS SUPERIOR TO OUR KING JAMES BIBLE, THE AUTHORIZED VERSION. It presents to us purity of doctrine and flawless counsel. We make no apologies for our stand upon and our use of the King James translation. Its matchless beauty and accuracy has no equal. (1Peter 1:25)

The Authorized Version has been preserved for us under the singular care and providence of God. We need to believe it and practice it. It is sad the trouble that the new unreliable translations, paraphrases, etc., have brought to the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. They cause widespread confusion, divisions, and provide opportunity for perverting the truth. A great deal of scholarship and theological activity is being concentrated upon an attempt to discredit the Bible, especially the KJV. There is an all-out attack, in the name of scholarship, upon God's Word and historic Christianity. It is one of the greatest evils ever to have infested the Church. We reject the use or acceptance of the modern translations which lead to compromise and corruption of the Lord's true churches. (2Timothy 4:1-8, Psalm 12:6-7)

WE REJECT THE VIEWS OF ..........., THE GENERAL SECRETARY OF THE ................., THAT THE KING JAMES BIBLE HAS MANY ERRORS IN IT. Belief affects practice. No wonder he could tell us that it is alright to have on their committees anyone who is of an liberal or apostate church or denomination "as long as they are christians." No wonder he could tell us that they have GREAT hatred for the Canadian Committee of TBS CANADA. No wonder he could write (Nov. 1997) a letter of denial. No wonder the Canadian Committee had advised since 1990 that I should not meet with him alone but have at least one, two or more witnesses present. (Jude 3-7)

My dear friend, we are not to make peace with the apostates. We are in a spiritual warfare with them. We are to expose them for what they are. This means we are to contend for the faith. We are to try to reach them with the Glorious Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. This does not mean to have fellowship with them. We are not to be identified with them. (2Corinthians 6:14-18)

Bible Societies or any other organizations are not the foundation and pillar of the Truth. The N. T. Chuch is the foundation and pillar of the Truth. (1Timothy 3:15) This is why TBS CANADA believes we must give an answer to the N. T. Church. We know that this is not popular today, but TBS CANADA cares far more for the honour and glory of our lovely Lord Jesus Christ than we are about popularity, etc. Yes, we want TBS CANADA to be made known, we need funds to carry out the free distribuion of the HOLY BIBLE, etc., but our chief goal is to please the Lord and that He might have the preeminence. (Colossians 1:10) We thank God for the many faithful prayer and financial supporters that God has raised up to stand with and support TBS CANADA. If you have not written, please write us and let us know that you are standing with us. If you need a quick reply, please mark "URGENT" at the top of your letter. We are trying to answer a backlog of mail, but a response to your gift comes first. Thank you for your understandng in these matters. Please keep on praying. (1Peter 5:8-11 Revelation 3:11)

Dr. Samuel Gipp was contacted personally by Dr. Robert Baker of TBS CANADA and verified that the following incident occurred as reported.

Shocker! Bible Scholar Loses Voice on the John Ankerberg TV Show

You can call it pure justice, a sign from God, or whatever you want, but eyebrows were sure raised recently during the tapings for Christian TV's The John Ankerberg Show.Ankerberg, a bitter opponent of the King James Bible, had wanted to do a series of TV programs in which the heads of the new version translation committees — the NIV, RSV, NASV, NKJV, etc.— would debate King James Bible advocates.

Afraid that the King James people would get the upper hand and win the debate, Ankerberg attempted to "stack the deck." He invited five new version scholars but only three King James advocates. Since Ankerberg is himself a fervent promoter of the NIV and other false versions, that made the odds six to three. But the three King James men — Dr. Joseph Chambers, Dr. Samuel Gipp, and Dr. Thomas Strouse, weren't deterred by the odds. They accepted John Ankerberg's invitation anyway so that they could get out their vital and important message — that the King James Bible is the only trustworthy, accurate, scholarly, and whole Bible available in the world!

The John Ankerberg programs are taped in advance in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and then shown later to a national TV audience. For the Bible version debate, eight shows were taped. However, on one of these shows, Ankerberg and the new Bible version people were forced to call an abrupt halt right in the midst of the taping.

It happened when Ankerberg asked Dr. Don Wilkins, of the New American Standard Version translation committee, a key question. Is it true, asked Ankerberg, as Gail Riplinger reported in her bestselling book, New Age Bible Versions, that a number of the scholars who worked on the new translation committees lost their voice as punishment by God?

As the TV cameras captured the moment, Dr. Wilkins opened his mouth to answer— and nothing came out! No sound! Wilkins kept trying to clear his throat, but he couldn't respond. Ankerberg and the other new version scholars were visibly startled. Finally, an embarrassed and frightened Wilkins was able to screech out in a cracking, almost inaudible manner, "I... I've... lost... my voice!"

A shocked John Ankerberg ordered the cameras to stop and back up, whereupon Dr. Joseph Chambers, a King James only advocate, politely protested. "The cameras should record exactly what happened here," Chambers insisted.

But Ankerberg was hearing none of it. After a brief delay, the TV cameras began to roll again, after the amazing segment of Dr. Wilkins losing his voice had conveniently been excised!

But our miraculous God wasn't through yet. Ankerberg had taped eight programs in all, but after broadcasting only two of them, he pulled the others off the air and refused to continue the series. When we called his office to ask why, we were pointedly told that it was because the series was a financial flop. When the first two of the eight programs aired, people did not send in enough contributions. In other words, Ankerberg claims that the series wasn't making enough money!

I watched one of the two programs that did air, however, and I believe there is another, quite different reason why Ankerberg and the false new version folks decided to pull the remainder. At one point, the new version "scholars" were clearly frustrated when Dr. Chambers asked them why, an astounding 46 times in the NIV, the title of "Master" for our Lord Jesus had been changed to "teacher!" Obviously, there is a vast difference between one who is our Master and one who is a mere "teacher."

Such poignant episodes as this make me doubt Ankerberg's rationale as to why he quickly jerked the remaining programs from the broadcast schedule. If, as he claims, Ankerberg pulled the series because he wasn't bringing in enough money, what does that tell us about his "ministry?" Is John Ankerberg in it only for the money? Is filthy lucre the sole measure for the programs he airs — or doesn't air?

(The Trinitarian Bible Society Bible Canada does not endorse or approve of the NIV)

Thought you would be interested in the following that was sent to us.

The International Bible Society Bible has violated a public promise to drop a controversial translation of the Bible which is "gender neutral" - avoiding terms such as "sons of God," instead using "children of God" according to World Magazine.

According to World, the International Bible Society ordered a reprinting of 20,000 copies of a paperback edition of the gender neutral New International Reader's Version (NIrV) New Testament for children, called New Beginnings. According to Art Toalston of the Baptist Press news service, the IBS is scrambling to explain the printing. After a critical article in World, the IBS publicly reaffirmed its 1997 commitment to "forego all plans" to revise the New International Version of the Bible into gender-neutral language. However, the Bible society did not cancel the order for the 20,000 paperbacks, which avoids calling God our "Father."

The printing violates a May 1997 agreement by IBS, the copyright holder of the 1984 NIV and the NIrV, and Zondervan Publishing House, the NIV-related gender- neutral or "inclusive," revisions.

In it's statement, the IBS noted that since completing the NIrV revision "to reflect the same treatment of gender as the existing NIV" in the fall of 1997, the society has "printed more than 340,000 Scriptures using the new text." According to the IBS' statement, "Allegations stemmed from a September reprint of Bright Beginnings, IBS' only evangelistic New Testament for young children. IBS Vice-president and Publisher Dean Merrill made a decison to reprint Bright Beginnings to meet a short-term need pending the release of new children's Scriptures that use the revised text."

The IBS statement quoted Merrill as saying, "We were phasing that particular product out of our children's line, so we didn't want to invest $20,000 in typesetting changes for a piece we no longer planned to print." The new NIrV gender-specific revision, Merrill said, has been "very well received," and, according to the IBS statement, consistently ranks in the top 10 of best-selling English-language translations.

Victor Oliver, chairman of IBS' board of directors, echoes IBS commitment to the 1984 NIV text, in the society's statement. "It has served the Church for more than 20 years and is recognized as one of the most accurate, reliable translations in existence. God has used it mightily," Oliver said. The one-page IBS release did not recount the detail reported in World's four- page Internet posting of it's story.

In it's article, World reported, "IBS Vice-president and Publisher Dean Merrill said timing and format were key. He said supplies of the children's NIrV ran out in August, and orders - an average of 1,200 - 1,500 copies per month - were beginning to pile up."

He said he planned a new children's edition, one that would be in a single- column format rather than the double-column format of other editions, and would include new artwork.

New Living Translation

Regardless of which of the Bible versions a true Bible-believer might choose to use, all can agree that the Living Bible is not an acceptable "translation." In July 1996 the New Living Translation (NLT ) by Tyndale House Publishers came out as a remake of Kenneth Taylor's Living Bible, which first appeared in a complete Bible in 1971, and which has sold more than 40 million copies.

An advertisement for the NLT tells us that "The New Living Translation provides a wonderful balance of readability and authority. ... due to the careful work of 90 leading Bible scholars, it is accurate to the original Greek and Hebrew text."

In truth, the NLT is a more worthless version than the Living Bible ever was. It is, again, a paraphrase, like the Living Bible, but its updating of the language and phrase additions make a mockery of the Word of God.

Nevertheless, the NLT (also produced under a variety of titles such as New Believer's Bible, Life Application Study Bible, TouchPoint Bible, and The One Year Bible ) was featured positively in the 10/28/96 edition of Christianity Today in an article, "The Living Bible Reborn." It also received enthusiastic recommendations by Billy Graham, Bill Hybels, Greg Laurie, Josh McDowell, and the U.S. Director of Wycliffe Bible Translators, Hyatt Moore

Revered mummy returns home

Return of mummy celebrated with ancient rituals

By John McLean in Manila

Mountain tribes in the northern Philippines have been celebrating the recovery of the mummified remains of one of their ancestors.

The tribespeople believed the theft of the 500-year-old mummy, called Apo Annu, more than 80 years ago, resulted in various kinds of natural calamities.

The return of Apo Annu to the Cordillera Mountains of the northern Philippines is being celebrated with a three-day wake, including all kinds of ancient rituals.

Dozens of cows, pigs, water buffalo and dogs are being sacrificed. To ensure an auspicious reburial, local tribesmen in their colourful traditional dress are prohibited from fighting, breaking glass, sneezing, or even breaking wind.

Half human, half deity
Laid to rest in mountain cave
The tribes believe that Apo Annu was a mighty hunter, half human and half deity.
He was mummified in a crouching position five centuries ago and interned in a cave.

But at the beginning of this century, loggers discovered the caves housing the mummies of Apo Annu and other tribal nobles. Many of the mummies were stolen and sold to collectors.

An antique dealer handed over the mummy of Apo Annu to the National Museum in Manila 15 years ago and the museum decided that it should be returned to its original cave.

This delighted Apo Annu's modern day descendants. They believed his absence resulted in earthquakes, disease and bad harvests.

The practice of mummification died out in the Philippines after the arrival of Christianity in the 16th century. These days, four-fifths of all Filipinos are Roman Catholics.

But many, not just mountain tribes, still cling to ancient animistic beliefs.

A Kuwaiti Islamic court on May 29 declared a convert to Christianity an apostate, a ruling that Muslims might interpret as permission to kill him. ... Asked if the ruling would be taken as permission to kill Mr. Ali, Judge Mazidi said: "That is possible." But he said that killing an apostate was a violation of criminal law. The three lawyers who brought the lawsuit against Mr. Ali in March say they did not want him killed but wanted him stripped of several civil rights, including his Kuwaiti nationality. Chechnyan pastor beheaded; 2 Baptist leaders still missing

HAMBURG, Germany (BP)--Russian Baptist leaders have confirmed earlier reports that Aleksandr Kulakov, 65, a Baptist pastor in Grozny, Chechnya, has been beheaded, according to report in European Baptist Press Service April 22.

His head was reportedly displayed in an open market area, and police invited church members to come to a public morgue and try to identify his body.

Kulakov disappeared March 12 and was widely believed to have been kidnapped by radical Islamic forces in the area. He had led the struggling Baptist congregation in Grozny since its previous pastor, Alexei Sitnikov, was kidnapped in October 1998. There have been no ransom demands or reports of his whereabouts.

Volodya Kargiev, youth leader of the Central Baptist Church in Vladikavkaz, has also been reported as kidnapped by Chechnyan bandits. A $100,000 ransom has been demanded for his release, according to a report in Baptist Times on April 8. Two Orthodox priests were also kidnapped in Chechnya the first week in April, one of them taken from his church altar by four men with machine guns, according to the Baptist Times.

Jail populations explode
WASHINGTON - The United States will soon be the world's largest jailer, surpassing Russia as the country with the highest rate of incarceration, a Justice Department report said Sunday. The number of American adults imprisoned has more than doubled over the past 12 years, reaching its highest level ever in 1998, with an estimated 1.8 million people. At the end of 1985, the figure was 744,208.

ALLAHABAD, India - A Christian missionary couple said Tuesday they were threatened and ordered to close their school in northern India, but they did not know who was responsible.

"They came to our school and asked us to shut it down," John Sylvester said of the incident last fall in a village 50 miles from the northern town of Allahabad.

Sylvester, an Indian citizen, and his American wife Helen Kay Sylvester have worked in the rural area since 1988, running an elementary and middle school for 350 children. The school remains open.

"We don't know who they (attackers) were, and we said so to the local authorities," Sylvester said. "This is a sensitive issue and I do not want to aggravate the problem."

Christian groups across India have counted some 100 attacks in the last year ranging from the burning of Bibles to the Jan. 23 killing of an Australian missionary and his two sons in southeastern India.

Many of the attacks on Christians were allegedly carried out by right-wing ideological affiliates of the governing Bharatiya Janata Party. Hindu rightists deny responsibility for the attacks.

Two questions were handed me tonight which if I could answer them would take care of almost all the other questions:
"Please tell us why we should use the Authorized Version and why the New American Standard is not a good version, and the background from which it came."
"What is your opinion of the 1881, 1901 and other variations of the Bible in relation to the Authorized Version?"Word.

May I point out to you very specifically, not that you do not know but to stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance, we are in the end time. And this end time is characterized by a falling away, and of course that is apostasy. That is the meaning of the word: Falling away from truth. And when there is a falling away from truth, concurrently there is always confusion because they are sort of Siamese twins.

With confusion there is mental and heart disturbance, and people naturally come short of the high standard of the Lord. Everything we have or ever will have will be found here [in the Bible], as we have said so many times. All that God does for us, in us, with us, through us, to us must come by the way of this Word. It's the only material the Spirit of God uses to produce life and to promote it. Name it, and it has to be here.Word.

So you can understand why the archenemy of God and man would want to do something to destroy this book. I ought to whisper to you, and this is no compliment to the devil, but he knows it can't be destroyed. He tried to destroy the Living Word. You don't see this depicted on Christmas cards, but the night Jesus Christ was born the devil was there in that stable with one third of the fallen angels whom he had dragged down, to devour the manchild as soon as He was born. Rev. 12:5. Now he couldn't do it. Just think. Satan was there when Jesus was born, with all of those cohorts, those fallen angels, for one purpose: to devour the manchild. He couldn't do it. So failing to abort the Saviorhood of Jesus Christ both at the manger and at the cross--when he said come down from the cross, that is, before your work is finished come down--he is going to do what he knows is the next most effective thing, that is try to destroy the Written Word.

You understand, I am sure, there are places in this book where you can't differentiate between the Living Word and the Written Word. You know that. John 14:6--"I am the life." John 6:63--"My words are life." Different life? The same life. You can't differentiate because after all the Written Word is the breath, if you please, of God, and Jesus Christ is God made flesh or the Word that came to earth.

Nevertheless, getting back to this, the devil is too wise to try to destroy the Bible. He knows he can't. He can't destroy the Word of God. But he can do a lot of things to try to supplant it, or to corrupt it in the minds and hearts of God's people. Now he can only do it in one of two ways: either by adding to the Scriptures or by subtracting from the Scriptures. And you mark it down in your little red book: He's too wise to add to because those who have been in the Word for a long time would say, "Wait a minute; this is not in the Bible." So he subtracts from it. The deletions are absolutely frightening.

For instance, there are in the revisions (1881 and 1901), so we are told 5337 deletions, subtractions if you please. And here is the way it is done. It is done so subtly that very few would discover it. For instance, in the New American standard we are told that 16 times the word "Christ" is gone. When you are reading through you perhaps wouldn't miss many of them. Some you might. And 10 or 12 times the word "Lord" is gone. For instance, if you were in a church when the pastor is speaking on the words of the Lord Jesus in his temptation, "Get thee behind me, Satan," if you have a New American Standard you wouldn't even find it. It's not even in there. And there are so many such deletions. So this is done in order to get around it and further blind the minds and hearts of people, even though it may be done conscientiously. There isn't any worse kind of error than to have conscientious error. If you are conscientiously wrong it's a terrible situation to be in.

Nevertheless, when there is an omission that might be observed, they put in the margin, "Not in the oldest manuscripts." But they don't tell you what those oldest manuscripts are. What oldest manuscripts? Or they say, "Not in the best manuscripts." What are the best manuscripts? They don't tell you. You see how subtle that is? The average man sees a little note in the margin which says "not in the better manuscripts" and he takes for granted they are scholars and they must know, and then he goes on. That's how easily one can be deceived.

It has been stated that the King James Version of the Bible is no longer intellectually acceptable. Is this the way that the serpent is corrupting the mind, from the simplicity that is in Christ?

A book written by one James Orr entitled "The Bible Under Trial" made the following statement on page 15: "... the day is coming when we shall be faced with two Bibles, the Bible of the faithful, and the Bible of the scholar". Higher Criticism has never been a friend of Biblical Christianity and never will be,even though it has won many friends among Christians."

Beleiver don't be fooled, beguiled, deceived as was the woman in the garden. The serpent is still very active in the form of a lion today:

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. ( Peter 5:8-9). copied from "Shalom", edited by Pastor Robert Wm. Redding, a former TBS Canada Committee member

The Superiority of the King James Version of the Bible It is the work of many outstanding scholars. It is a faithful rendering of the Hebrew and Greek texts. It is based upon superior Hebrew and Greek texts. It is written in dignified, understandable English. It is neither woodenly literal nor loosely paraphrastic. Its translators all held to the inerrancy of Scripture. It has a proven track record over the last 386 years.

-------------------- ********** --------------------

"Let us affirm clearly: what the Bible says, God says; what the Bible says happened, happened---every miracle, every event in every book of the Old and New Testaments is altogether true and trustworthy." Timothy George

-------------------- ********** --------------------

If Scripture was true and trustworthy enough for the Lord Jesus Christ, then it is true and trustworthy enough for every professing Christian.

-------------------- ********** --------------------

-------------------- ********** --------------------

We believe in the inerrancy of the Holy Scriptures
(II Sam. 7:28; Ps. 19:7,9; 111:7; 119:142,151,160; 138:2; Prov. 30:5-6; Jn. 17:17; II Tim. 2:15; Jas. 1:18; Rev. 21:5).

Inerrancy means that the Bible is entirely true and trustworthy and wholly without error in all that it affirms, whether those affirmations concern doctrinal, practical, moral, historical, geographical, or scientifical matters. The Bible is not primarily a textbook on history, geography, or science, but where it speaks on these matters it is totally reliable and does not err in any way.

John C. Whitcomb calls attention to the monumental importance of the doctrine of Biblical inerrancy when he writes: "The inerrancy of Scripture is absolutely essential to Christianity. This is true for at least two reasons. First, Christ and the apostles taught this doctrine. Therefore, if the Bible is not what they said it is, then they either lied or were mistaken---and in either case the entire foundation of Christianity collapses. In the second place, a Bible that is not completely inerrant is hopelessly untrustworthy because no one could be sure that what he reads in the Bible is an inerrant portion. One would have to be omniscient to know which words are correct and which are not correct. Only if all Scripture is true can it be confidently read and obeyed."

Jesus' View of Scripture
by John A. Kohler, III

He believed in the Genesis account of creation (Mat. 19:4-6; Mk. 10:6-8).
He believed in the Mosaic authorship of the Pentateuch (Mat. 8:4; Jn. 5:46; 7:19).
He believed in the historicity and universality of the Noahic Flood (Mat. 24:37-39).
He believed in the historicity of Abraham (Jn. 8:56).
He believed in the historicity of Sodom and Gomorrah (Mat. 10:15; 11:23-24).
He believed Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt (Lk. 17:32).
He believed God gave manna from heaven to Israel (Jn. 6:31,49,58).
He believed in the Davidic authorship of the Psalms (Mat. 22:43).
He believed in the historicity of Jonah and the whale (Mat. 12:39-41).
He believed in the Danielic authorship of Daniel (Mat. 24:15).
He believed in the unity of the book of Isaiah (Mat. 13:14-15; Mk. 7:6; Jn. 12:38-41)
He believed the Jews had a history of rejecting God's Word (Lk. 11:47-51).
He accepted the Old Testament Jewish canon, but rejected the Apocrypha (Lk. 24:44)
He scolded the Sadducees for their ignorance of Scripture (Mat. 22:29).
He taught that every word of Scripture proceeded from God (Mat. 4:4).
He taught the doctrine of the preservation of Scripture (Mat. 5:17-18; 24:35; Lk. 6:17).
He taught that the Old Testament Scriptures pointed to Him (Lk. 24:27,44).
He taught that man will be judged by God's Word (Jn. 12:47-48).
He taught the absolute authority of Scripture (Jn. 10:34-36).
He pre-authenticated the New Testament writings as Scripture (Jn. 14:26; 16:12-13).
He never corrected or criticized Scripture, even though He did not possess the original autographs (Jn. 17:17).
He never involved Himself in higher or lower criticism or attempted to recover the original autographs.
He either knew Scripture was the Word of God and said it was, did not know if Scripture was the Word of God or not and said it was, or knew Scripture was not the Word of God and said it was anyway. The first option is the whole truth of the matter.

Those who claim to be followers of the Lord Jesus Christ ought to hold the same high view of Scripture that He held. What right do they have to hold any other view? Obviously, no right at all.
